Rotary School Channapatna is a humble school adopted by Rotary Bangalore Cantonment with the noble intention of providing quality education to the underprivileged.

Efforts from Rotary patrons to increase student turnout with better infrastructure, fees support and worthy faculty have borne good results with significant increase in enrolment. 

While this has been remarkable with the young lot showing great zeal for quality education, resources of the school have been stretched.  The immediate need is to fund students who cannot afford and to upgrade School’s library, science & computer center

Rotary School of Channapatna, a Primary & Middle School, located in the heart of Channapatna town, adjacent to the bus stand, was established in 1991 and had classes only up to 7^th standard.The project of making it a High school up to 10^th Standard, could not be taken up for a long time due to paucity of funds and necessary infrastructure.

Rotary Club of Bangalore Cantonment, as a part of its community service project, has been working with the school since Apr.2011. Apart from providing financial assistance for the day-to-day operations, we are also involved in building the necessary infrastructure for the expansion of the school 

And as a first step, RBC has helped the school obtain the approval from the Government of Karnataka to start a high school, up to 10^th standard which weas started from teh academic year 2012-13. .The school now is has classses up to 10th standard.  

What has been done so far:

1. Total number of students increased from 76 to 135 and the number of teachers increased from 10 to 15.- Including appointment of a Headmaster.
2. Support the school with an average annual  funding  to the tune of about Rs. 5.00 lakh for the past three years.
3. Organised  a fund raising program in the form of a Lucky Dip Scheme which generated a surplus of Rs.3.95 Lakh for construction of .Science Labs.
4. Formed a Rotary School Management Committee and the committee is actively involved in growth and management of the school.The highlights of the school committee are as follows:
   1. Monthly meetings with the Principal and Headmaster to review the day-to-day activities of the school.
   2. Annual review and enhnacement of emoluments for the teachers and appointment of additional teachers.
   3. Streamlined the maintenance of accounts.
   4. Involved in improving the quality of teachers through training and development.
5. Organised Eye camp,  Dental camp, General Health camp ,Lectures on Career counseling and Sex-education,
6. Educational tour to Bangalore and other cities

What are our future plans?

1. To increase the strength to 250 in the next two years.
2. Make the school financially self- sustaining
3. To attract good talent from economically weaker section
4. Launch a scholarship programs through “Sponsor a Child program”
5. Training programs for teachers to improve their effectiveness and quality.
6. Better emoluments and recruitment of better quality teachers.
7. Extracurricular activities for students – sports training , theatre workshop, cultural workshop, Computer training, Science education
8. Improve the infrastructure and build additional class rooms for the future.
